The kids will love the Miami Metro Zoo which is both the largest and the oldest zoo in Florida. It is home to over 1,000 animal species from different parts of the world including Africa, Asia and Australia. Another great place for families in Miami is the Jungle Island (previously known as Parrot Jungle Island), an interactive zoological park with exciting animal exhibits and shows as well as the Miami Seaquarium, an outdoor sea aquarium which is an absolute favorite of Miami visitors with kids. Both the kids and their parents will also enjoy the Miami Museum of Science and the Miami Children's Museum both of which offer a variety of interactive exhibits that enable the kids to have fun and learn at the same time.

History buffs have plenty to see in the city of Miami. The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, an early 20th century villa and the National Historic Landmark impresses its visitors with an outstanding collection of art and antiquities as well as a charming Italian Renaissance garden and outstanding architecture that was inspired by Mediterranean Revival style.

The Venetian Pool is another historic site worth visiting. It is a historic public swimming pool that was designed from old coral rocky quarry by architect Phineas Paist in 1924 and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places just like the Coral Castle, a stone monument north of the city of Homestead. The Coral Castle was created by Latvian American sculptor Edward Leedskalnin in the early 1920's but he continued to work on the stone structure until his death in 1951. Although its name suggest that is was created of coral in reality, it is made of oolite.

The Everglades National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site is another must-see in Miami. The park is home to over 30 endangered species including the American crocodile, the Florida panther and the West Indian manatee. Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat is truly a unique and unforgettable experience.
